The metallic hardcore band’s lead singer Lawrence Taylor performed some absolutely stunning solos, and when the rest of the band were bashing out their awesome riffs and tunes, his incredibly high tenor screamed over the auditorium, echoing off every surface. Although on their studio recordings they’re evidently enthused by the music, it’s a whole new level of dedication in their performance. From start to finish the band members were standing on and kicking amps, throwing their hair around their faces, and jumping out to the audience to crowd surf. I’d say that at least 50% of why I love metal music is because of the performances that the bands put on, and I can assure you that While She Sleeps is no exception. The band’s second full-length album “Brainwashed” received critical acclaim upon release, led by the singles “New World Torture”, “Four Walls”, and “Trophies of Violence”. Once again earning rave reviews, the record’s subsequent singles “Seven Hills” and “Our Courage, Our Cancer” earned regular airplay on BBC Radio 1. Following their first appearance at Download Festival and an Australian tour in support of House vs Hurricane, the band won the Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer in 2012. ![]() The studio album “This Is the Six” was released in August 2012, led by the single of the same name. Relentless touring following including an appearance at Sonishpenre Festival, and tours in Europe and the U.S.Īhead of their debut full-length While She Sleeps embarked on a modest UK tour to test out new material, and announced they had signed with Search and Destroy Records. The bonus track “Be(lie)ve” was subsequently released as a single epitomising the group’s melodic elements with heavier metal accompaniment. An album launch show at The Plug in Sheffield was hosted two days prior to the release, following which While She Sleeps signed with Good Fight Music who issued the album in the U.S. Earning widespread critical acclaim from a host of reputable sources, the self-produced record reportedly took a long time to record, with band members describing the recording process as a party. In July 2010 the band issued its debut release, the eight-track mini-album, “The North Stands for Nothing”. Interest in the band at this time began to increase and While She Sleeps subsequently embarked on a number of UK tours before heading to mainland Europe. ![]() Unable to commit to the band’s full-time schedule, singer Woddowson departed the group in 2009, paving the way for vocalist Lawrence Taylor. Having played in a number of groups prior to While She Sleeps’ fruition, the group began honing their songwriting and live performance skills by playing shows in the local area. Formed of northern England school friends in 2006, While She Sleeps is comprised of singer Jordan “The Face” Widdowson, drummer Adam Savage, bassist Aaran Mckenzie, and guitarists Mat Welsh and Sean Long.
